Even a constantly moving organ like the lung can be imaged well. This cross-sectional diagnostic method offers greater clarity and more detail about internal organs, bones, soft tissues, and blood vessels than normal X-ray examinations.<\/p>\n<p>The CT machine is shaped like a huge ring; you are driven through that ring. The examination lasts five to ten minutes. To produce images, X-rays in very low doses are used.<\/p>\n<p>Before a CT scan can take place, certain requirements must be met. The CT scan of the lung always must be medically justified. This is due to the use of X-rays. As with every X-ray examination, there is still a minimal chance of tumours developing despite the low radiation dose.
